How to improve the reading ability?

when I am a student,i have read nealy 20 english book which were very very easy,most words i  already knew the meaning before(i never remember words since i went to university,so you can imagine that i actually knew little words),then i did a good job in CET6 ,especially  my reading comprehension .so maybe just reading the english books is a good way.but remember not too hard ,otherwise you will lose your interest quickly.good luck.

There was a time when i struggle for CET-6, i spent lots of time to read ChinaDaily , combined with lots of head-scratching aticles which i can not get it.
And by the way , thank you for your advice!
