Some parents are over-concerned about the education of their pre-school children, so they send their kids to various training programs, believing that such a move is significant for the promising prospect of their children. But other parents are convinced that pre-school should spend their time enjoying themselves. Write a composition of about 400 words to state your view.

Sample 1
Leaving Pre-schooners Unchained
Every Friday evening, my five-year-old nephew is unhappy since he has to get up early next morning for a piano lesson instead of having a sound sleep on weekend. Actually, he is just one of the thousands of pre-school children in the city suffering from the overload of a variety of training courses. From my point of view, the disadvantages of overemphasized pre-school education have outweighed its benefits and hampered children’s healthy growth.
First of all, various training courses are a heavy burden to children’s physical development. At this stage children’s physical development makes it difficult for them to adapt to vast amounts of new information. And their fun-loving nature determines that they need games and outdoor activities, just as seedlings long for sunshine. Confined indoors and forced to sit in lectures all day long, lively children may be turned into a group of bookworms with thick glasses and pale faces. Isn’t it sad when that takes place even before the formal schooling begins! Then how can they meet the expectation of becoming backbones of the future society and shouldering up the responsibility to build our nation into a more prosperous one?
Secondly, too much pressure deprives children’s freedom, which is harmful to their psychological development. Parents send their children to training courses of various sorts for fear that their kids are not competent enough in the future. However, parents cannot tell precisely what fits their children and what does not. Every kid is talented in some aspects. Forced learning would only cause tension and strain or even damp the enthusiasm for future study. No adult will tolerate a whole day’s study with no fun and being stuffed with arduous knowledge, let alone children. As the saying goes, all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy.
Last but not least, tuition of such trainings is an extra onerous financial burden for the family budget. A considerable amount of money is consumed on courses ranging from piano lesson to computer class. Sometimes, enrolling in training courses has become so trendy that parents are tempted to climb on the bandwagon. In that case it is the last straw on the camel’s back since the middle-aged parents have already got loads of burdens such as supporting their elderly parents and so on.
As the society becomes increasingly sophisticated, a higher expectation on education grows naturally. However, with a multitude of unsuccessful experiences of pre-schooling, this practice may be regarded as an event with double efforts but half achievement. Childhood, as a major episode of life that produces the happiest and sweetest memory, should be treasured and protected. Therefore, I just call on all parents to unchain your children, to give time back to them.
