There were serious traffic jams on the highways in many cities, especially at the beginning and end of the seven-day National Day holiday. On some highways vehicles hardly moved for hours, and some netizens joked that the holiday had turned the highway into a huge parking lot.
国庆期间，许多城市的高速都遭遇了严重拥堵，尤其在国庆七天假开始和结束的时候，部分高速上的车辆几乎连续几个小时不挪窝。网友戏称，国庆长假把高速变成了一个巨大的停车场。
国庆假期把人们从工作和学习中解放了出来，大家借此机会返回老家跟家人团聚(go back home for family reunions)，或者到各处景点游玩(enjoy trips to tourist attractions)，交通道路因此承压。
