【写作技巧】托福作文地道写出来——言简朴实
托福写作与中国作文以及其他英语考试有着明显不同的行文要求。托福旨在考查同学们对于英语的理解和运用能力。而其写作相比更加偏向学术写作。托福口语上，可以通过发音和语调的矫正让人听起来更纯正。而托福写作中，如何才能把英语文章写得地道？
言简朴实
“言简朴实”指行文主张不写啰嗦或绚丽的字眼(flowery or wordy)，句子应该精简，没有废话和赘余。例如：Despite the fact that my English is not very good, I am not discouraged。这句话中despite the fact that不如替换为although/though，而显得更加干练。
又如：In the majority of cases, he likes to ride bike to the office. 很简单的一句话，让人感到完全是在凑字，何不直说He usually likes to ride bike to the office.
有同学不禁要说，某某老师说，用词要多样化，要丰富，不能总重复同一个词。这里并不矛盾，所说的用词多样化和地道并是指实用性极强的词如动词和形容词的变化，比如：
Original： Solving trivial problems in the dorm will add your social experience and help you to understand other people’s feelings and learn to be kind.
Revised： Solving trivial problems in the dorm will enrich your social experience and help you to understand other people’s feelings and learn to be considerate.
add, kind表达的含义都比较宽泛。add可以指数量上的增加，也可以指程度的加强，对于“丰富经验、增加知识”这个意思，用enrich会使表达更准确。kind从字面意义上讲是“好的、善良的”，用kind来形容人无法具体地表现出一个人的性格特征到底怎样，原句中是想表达“考虑周到、体贴入微”的特点，要准确表达这个含义应选择considerate。
另外，还有一些常见累赘用词，多数源于字字翻译的结果。比如：
He has had many years of actual experience in business. 其中actual是多余的，因为experience已经有actual的意味了。
We assembled together all the parts for our radio. 这里的assemble本身就有together的意思，因此together是多余的。
