Along the River During the Qingming Festival
The best-known scroll painting in Chinese art history - titled Along the River During the Qingming Festival - was completely unrolled for the first time since 2005 in the Palace Museum.
中国艺术史上第一画《清明上河图》全卷自2005年以来首次在故宫亮相。
《清明上河图》出自北宋(Northern Song period)画家张择端(1085-1145)之手，宽24.8厘米长5.29米，描绘了北宋时期(960-1127)都城汴京的繁荣景象(depicts a flourishing landscape in Bianjing)和当时社会各阶层人民的生活状况(the lifestyle of all levels of the society from rich to poor )，被誉为中国的蒙娜丽莎。
在五米多长的画卷(scroll)里，共绘了814个各色人物(humans)，牛、骡、驴等牲畜73匹，车、轿二十多辆，大小船只二十九艘。房屋、桥梁、城楼等各有特色，体现了宋代建筑的特征。具有很高的历史价值(historical value)和艺术价值(artistic value)。
