有趣的英语：莎士比亚的俗语

有一个英国的笑话: 一个农民到伦敦观看了一场莎士比亚的戏剧之后，别人问他有什么感想，他说：“我真的很佩服他，难得他记住那么多的俗语和成语。”

这个乡巴佬之所以可笑，是因为他不知道，对于英语，莎士比亚的剧作是不竭的源泉，许多的俗语，成语正是从他的作品中起源的，他的许多篇章句子，在几百年后的今天，依然具有动人的魅力而被众口传诵。

作家邦纳(Henry Cuyler Bunner)对此有过一句俏皮话：

“Shakespeare was a dramatist of note who lived by writing things to quote.”
