after his ill-fated invasion of russia in 1812, napoleon, alarmed by unrest at home, left his army in the lurch and rushed back virtually unaccompanied. he shortly arrived at the river neman, and asked the ferryman if many deserters had passed that way. "no," the russian replied, "you're the first."
拿破仑一八一二年将兵侵俄，失利败绩。他见法国本土震动，非常担心，弃部曲于危难之中，自己匆匆返国，几乎没有一人相从。不久，他来到涅漫河，问那摆渡人有没有很多逃兵路过。那俄国人说：「没有，先生是第一个。」
