Green Branch
Simon was a light-headed and obstinate boy who never worried about the warnings given him and often he treated them as a joke.
One day he was in the garden with Tonia， his sister. Her garden plot was neat and tidy， with beautiful flowers， while Simon's was overrun with wild grass.
“Simon， Simon，” said Tonia， “look how untidy your plot is. Do as I do. What mother says is true； you'll never get about the bottom rung of the ladder.”
Simon began to laugh and began to climb the pear tree. When he was near the top， he cried out： “Tonia， look up here！ Do you still think that I won't get further than the bottom rung？”
Crack！ The branch broke under his weight and Simon came falling down to earth and broke his arm.
