Death Unavoidable
A sailor who was going to set out for India was asked by a landsman, where his father died.
"He was shipwrecked."answered the sailor.
"And where did your grandfather die?"
"When he was fishing, a storm arose and he and all on board were drowned."
"And your great-grandfather?"
"He also lost his life at sea."
"Then,"said the landsman, "If I were you, I should never go to sea."
"And pray, "asked the seaman, "Where did your father die?"
"In his bed."
"And your grandfather?"
"He as well as my great-grandfather died in their beds."
"Then, if I were you,"said the sailor, "I should never go to bed."
