决死雄师
in 480 bc, the spartan king leonidas, with three hundred of his soldiers, met the invading persian forces at thermopylae. the persian envoy urged him to surrender. "our archers are so numerous that the flight of their arrows darkens the sun," he said. "so much the better," leonidas replied. we'll then fight in the shade." he and his men were subsequently all killed, and their epitaph read: "go, stranger, and tell the spartans that here we lie, obedient to their commands."
公元前四八○年，斯巴达王李奥尼大率三百士兵，在塞摩比利山口迎战入侵的波斯军。波斯使者促他投降：「我们射手如云，引弓发箭，足以遮天蔽日。」李奥尼大回答说：「那更好。我们可在阴凉中作战。」他们最后全军覆没，有墓志铭说：「烦尔行客，往告斯巴达人：吾曹此地长埋，幸未辱命。」
